Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) is Sicily's busiest airport, just a few kilometres south of the city. Motorways lead north to Taormina and Messina, south to Syracuse and west across the island towards Enna and Palermo. Rental companies have desks in the terminal or shuttles to offices nearby. Taormina is about an hour away, Syracuse about 45 minutes and the slopes of Mount Etna within an hour, making the airport an ideal start for a tour of eastern Sicily.
