Cheap car hire at Queenstown Airport (New Zealand) from local companies: meet & greet in arrivals and full insurance options.
Queenstown Airport (ZQN) is about 8 km from the town centre, in one of the world's most scenic airport settings. Rental desks are in the terminal. The town centre is about 15 minutes away, Arrowtown about 20, Wanaka about an hour and Milford Sound about four hours. In winter, carry snow chains for the mountain roads to the ski fields and Milford Sound, and check road conditions before you set off. New Zealand drives on the left.

Enter your pick-up place and dates in the search on this page and compare cars from local rental companies. Use the filters for deposit, payment method, insurance and gearbox, then book with a 15–20% advance online. Your voucher arrives by email straight away, and you pay the rest at pick-up.
It depends on the company: many meet you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, others take you by free shuttle to an office near the airport. The exact instructions and the company's phone number are on your voucher.
Add your flight number when you book. Most companies track arrivals and wait for you; call the number on your voucher if you are very late.
Prices depend on the season, the car and how long you rent for. Longer rentals and low-season dates are much cheaper per day. The search above shows live prices for your dates.
Some companies offer no deposit or a low deposit. Use the “No deposit” or “Low deposit” filter to see them.
Some companies accept a debit card or cash. Check the payment methods listed on each car before you book.
